As the singer in I Am Kloot from 1999 to 2014, John Bramwell achieved a Mercury Prize nomination for 2010’s The Sky At Night, a Top 10 chart position for 2013’s Let It All In, numerous UK and European tours and a triumphant farewell at the Queen Elizabeth Hall with an orchestra in 2014.
Now, as a solo artist, Bramwell travels a very different path, a path that criss-crosses the length and breadth of the UK with a humble agenda of taking his heartwarming songs to the stage and enjoying another moment in time with his devoted fans. The stunning 2023 sophomore solo album, The Light Fantastic was an almost complete u-turn from the I Am Kloot outlook they were known for. Darker clouds banished and in replacement strings, four-part harmonies and a dozen gloriously exhilarating, beautifully crafted and observed songs about life, humanity, the universe and everything. As John put it, “It’s been great to find the joy of making music once again. These are the most uplifting songs of my career.”The album received unanimous praise from the UK press but it is the all-encapsulating live show where Bramwell conjures up his true magic. Bramwell has been on a never-ending rolling adventure since his workings away from Kloot and in the last four years has visited almost every parish in England, Scotland and Wales to be met with halls, theatres, arts centres, churches, festival tents and folk clubs full with his eager fans waiting to see which direction Bramwell will take the mood of the night - the enriched, wildly playful inter-song banter is so good, a stand up comedy tour has been contemplated. Bramwell’s razor sharp wit, on the line and refreshingly true [and often hilarious] observations and instantly recognisable haunting vocal channelled through some of the most honest and direct songwriting of our times has seen Bramwell championed in rave reviews, time after time. God Is In The TV celebrated John’s 2025 Beautiful Days performance as the highlight of the weekend and The Scottish Sun declared ‘Bramwell could well be the patron saint of northerners. Sharp, understated, and self-assured. A man in his element entertaining and amusing’ when reviewing his Celtic Connections 2026 performance. 2027 sees Bramwell taking to the road once more, previewing new material penned for his next album release -- “I got hooked on this when I was nine. Maybe I've been quiet for a few years but I’ve been out there gigging. Putting the hours in on my playing and getting my voice limbered. All the time I’ve been writing. The past may be over but it’s now all within these songs.”‘The regular harmonising with his cast of supporting musicians is especially beautiful’ CLASH‘Wonderfully grown-up pop music delivered by an adept songwriter’ - 4* MOJO‘This is hazy music, with purpose, and very pretty with it.’ - 4* The Times‘A splendid solo set of sumptuous vocal harmonies’ - UNCUT‘A unique voice both literally and metaphorically’ - Lauren Laverne‘Bramwell’s new songs are spellbinding’ - The Guardian‘My favourite songwriter of all time’ - Cate Blanchett ‘The UK’s finest export’ - New York Times

An evening with Chris and Tony Griffiths from The Real People - A Selective Agency Presentation : An evening with Tony & Chris Griffiths from The Real People.
The Real People were formed by Tony and Chris Griffiths in 1988. Signed to CBS in Dec 1989 they released their eponymously named debut album including the singles Window Pane, Open Up Your Mind and The Truth in 1991. The band then embarked on a series of successful British, European, American and Japanese tours, also appearing at Glastonbury and supporting major artists such as The Pixies, David Bowie and Inspiral Carpets to name a few. The Realies (as they are known to their fans) then recorded their second album Marshmallow Lane with the help of legendary producer Jimmy Miller (Rolling Stones etc). This album provided the Top 40 single ‘Believer’.Whilst touring with Inspiral Carpets, Chris and Tony took the then Inspirals roadie Noel Gallagher under their wing, along with his brother Liam and the rest of Oasis. The Real People invited Oasis into their studio to develop and record the new band, resulting in the now famous Live Demonstration Tape which subsequently secured them a major deal with Alan McGee and Creation Records. Once signed by Creation, Chris and Tony were instrumental in the recording of Oasis' first single ‘Supersonic', with Tony providing the backing vocals. Chris also co-wrote the B-side to ‘Roll With It’ entitled ‘Rockin’ Chair' which helped set Oasis on the path to becoming world wide stars and the biggest band of the past 30 years. The Real People also inspired several other Oasis songs such as ‘Columbia' and 'Don’t Go Away’.Around this time Chris and Tony continued writing and developing other artists - including writing a Top 10 single for Cher and others. In 1996 The Real People signed to MGL Records and released their third album ‘What’s On The Outside’ which included the singles ‘Rolling Stone’, ‘Rayners Lane’ and ’People In The Telly’. The band also embarked on tours including numerous tours with their good friends Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller and Simple Minds. The Real People continued writing and touring for the next few years resulting in their now cult following and new albums ’Think Positive’ and ‘Monday Morning Breakdown’. The Realies continue to write, record and tour and this forthcoming tour ‘An Evening With….’ provides a very rare chance for fans old and new to see them perform their back catalogue in stripped down acoustic versions and hear some of the stories behind the songs.

This is a new date for the postponed 27 Sept gig. All original tickets remain valid. Thornton Hough Village Club presents Chris Helme, former frontman with The Seahorses.
From his breakthrough success with The Seahorses to an enduring solo career, Chris Helme has always excelled at pouring his heart into music - in the process creating songs as affectingly emotional as they are obviously accomplished. Now, thirty years on from that first spotlight moment, the singer-songwriter provides a taste of his ever popular live shows with the new album ‘Forest For The Trees’.The record sees Chris revisit a selection of key songs from his journey so far. It covers hits and deep cuts from The Seahorses, favourites from his solo albums ‘Ashes’ (2010) and ‘World Of My Own’ (2024), plus the previously unreleased ‘Fancy Free’. The material is stripped back and warm in its organic live feel - the idea being to give fans a record which reflects the show they have just seen. The Seahorses were only together for less than three years but they achieved more than most bands do in decades: a massive Platinum-certified album, several chart hits, gigs with Oasis, The Rolling Stones and U2, working with Tony Visconti, and selling-out tours around the world. And since then, Chris has flourished with a solo career, constantly playing up-and-down the country to audiences split between original Britpop-era fans and youngsters who have discovered his catalogue via their parents’ record collection.

The work of Martin Purdy (vocals, glockenspiel, accordion, harmonica and keyboards), Simon Jones (harp, guitar, viola) and Andy Smith (banjo, melodica, guitar and programming) is imbued with a deep Lancashire sensibility that shines through in their beautifully crafted and sometimes spooky vignettes of life, love and remembrance.
From original compositions to traditional songs, their approach is rooted in integrity. The outfit, who have been friends for more than 20 years, channel the ghosts of summers spent in municipal parks and winters walking on the moors. Ask them about their influences and they are as likely to cite Ordnance Survey maps and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission as they are Chris Wood, Bjork, Ewan MacColl or The Oldham Tinkers. Formed in 2008, Harp & a Monkey have established a loyal following via the old fashioned practice of relentless gigging. Regulars on the national circuit, the band have gained an enviable reputation for the excellent rapport they establish with their live audiences. Such is the strength of their reputation as a quality live act, they have twice been asked to perform at the English Folk Expo; the annual international showcase of the best of English folk and roots music. ‘The Road To Kingdom Come’ - Thornton Hough Village Club presents THE LINDISFARNE STORY : The Road to Kingdom Come with ex Lindisfarne members Ray Laidlaw & Billy Mitchell.
As a founder member of Lindisfarne, Ray Laidlaw was right in the middle of it... even before the band had been thought of. As a young lad with a drum kit and dreams of rock and roll, he set about hooking up with like-minded pals, setting him firmly on a course that would see him achieve success in a band with a #1 album, and a varied life in the music business. Thankfully, he kept all the best bits in a diary: and there's a lot of them, which came in very handy when THE LINDISFARNE STORY was first mooted...Billy Mitchell was also there when it all began. Close friends since the early days of Rock'n'Roll, Billy has never been far from the Lindisfarne action. When the band split temporarily in 1973, he teamed up with founder members Ray, Rod Clements and Si Cowe to form much-missed folk-rockers Jack the Lad. He eventually joined the band at the third time of asking in 1996, fronting the band until it split in 2003. His experience as both an outsider and insider gives a warm, unique perspective to THE LINDISFARNE STORY.
